Visa X (for a period of six months or more):
2. To apply for a Visa F, Application Form for Overseas Students to China (JW202 Form) and Admission Notice are required.
3. Applicants in groups, who are invited to China for short-term refresher courses, can also apply for Visa F with the invitation letter from the inviting unit or the visa notification letter/telegram from the authorized unit.
4. The new recruits should complete the process of registration within requested dates mentioned in the Admission Notice. The original documents of the passport, Application Form for Overseas Students to China (JW202 Form), Admission Notice and Physical Examination Record for Foreigners are required for the recruits to apply for visa from the embassy and to register in the School of International Education, Xidian University. With the assistance of the school authorities, foreign students should do physical examination and learn security policies for living in Xi’an, and those with X-visas should apply for residence permits within 30 days after entering China.
Visa for Studying in China
International students studying in China must possess ordinary passports with either study visa (Category X) or visiting visa (Category F). International students entering China with other types of visas must promptly transfer into study visas.
Residence Permit
International students with study visa (Category X) shall apply for Residence Permit within 30 days after arrival in China. Late applicants will have to shoulder the responsibilities for the delay and overdue fine. The following documents are required for the application of the residence permit:
The Health Certificate issued from the Xi'an International Travel Health Care Center.
The Visa and Residence Permit Application Form obtained from FSAO (Foreign Students Affairs Office) of Xidian University.
The Admission Notice of Xidian University and the Visa Application for Study in China (JW201or JW202 Form).
Valid passport.
One passport-size photo (facing the front, without hat, background not to be red).
The Registration Form of Temporary Residence issued by the local police station or the international apartment concerned.
Students transferred from other university / college in China should also provide the Letter of Transfer issued by the previous university / college.
Re-entry Visa
International students holding valid residence permits may go abroad or to regions of Hong Kong, Macao, or Taiwan, and re-enter China Mainland without re-entry visas.
Students with F visa must first submit their re-entry applications at FSAO 10 days before their leaving Chinese mainland. Re-entry visas are to be issued by the Xi'an Municipal Public Security Bureau (the Visa Center) with the following documents:
Visa and Residence Permit Application Form
Valid passport
Admission Notice of Xidian University
Visa Application for Study in China (JW201 or JW202 Form),
One passport-size photo
Copy of the Registration Form of Temporary Residence issued by the local police station or the international apartment in concern.
Extension of Visa and Residence Permit
International students should pay attention to the validity of their residence permits and entry visas and make proper arrangement for extensions if necessary. The overdue fines caused by expiration of validity of residence permits or entry visas should be born by oneself. The international students expected to continue their study at Xidian University after the expiration of their residence permits or F visa should apply to FSAO for extension of validity of these documents 10 days before the expiration date. (Self-financing students shall pay tuition before confirming the extension of their residence permits or visas. The extension in need should be processed before the end of the semester). Then the students should submit all the required documents, including Visa and Residence Permit Application Form, valid passport, and one passport-size photo to Wuhan Municipal Public Security Bureau (the Visa Center) for extension. Admission Notice of Xidian University, the Application Form of Study in China (JW201 or JW202 Form) and the copy of the Registration Form of Temporary Residence issued by the local police station or the international apartment in concern are also required for F visa extension
